Billy Corgan, frontman of the alternative rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins, sat down at the Samsung Blogger Lounge at SXSW Interactive to talk about the current state of the music industry and impact of digital media on the industry.

Corgan explained why he is passionate about new media and its potential for directly connecting artists with their audience.

"There's nothing wrong with technology," said Corgan. "It's when technology is the story and not the artist, that's the problem."

He also criticized the current music business model, saying it's “a really ridiculous model, and it wouldn’t work in any other business, but for some reason it still works for the model business.”
